What is a Patient Participation Group (PPG)?

A Patient Participation Group (PPG)—also known as a Patient Engagement Group—is a team of volunteer patients, the practice manager, and selected clinical and non-clinical staff.

Traditionally, a PPG would meet regularly in person to strengthen communication between the practice and its patients, offering a valuable opportunity for patients to help shape services and influence decision-making.

Our Patient Participation Group works differently from traditional face-to-face meetings.
Instead of scheduled meetings, we use a WhatsApp channel to make participation simple and flexible. This modern approach fits busy lifestyles, allowing you to complete questionnaires and share feedback at a time that suits you — no need to attend meetings in person.

Patient participation is about working together to:

  • Improve communication between patients and the practice
  • Share feedback and discuss the services we offer
  • Support improvements that benefit both patients and the practice
  • Empower patients to take better care of their own health
  • Enhance overall patient satisfaction with the care they receive

What a PPG is not:
A Patient Participation Group is not a forum for personal complaints. If you have reason to raise a concern or complaint or you should follow our complaints process.

Why join our Patient Participation Group?

Being part of a PPG offers patients a chance to:

  • Get more involved with the practice and its development
  • Suggest ideas and contribute to improvements
  • Ensure common concerns and suggestions are heard
  • Represent the wider patient community and help shape services to meet local needs
  • Learn more about healthcare provision in the area
  • Play a key role in promoting healthier communities

Our Patient Participation WhatsApp channel offers a modern and flexible way to get involved.

This modern, flexible approach makes it easier to get involved at a time that suits you. While you won’t be able to message us directly through the channel, you'll receive important updates about the practice and be invited to share your input on a variety of topics.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Quick online questionnaires to gather your feedback on specific services or processes
  • Opportunities to suggest topics you’d like the practice to explore or address
  • One-tap polls right within WhatsApp for easy, instant participation

It’s a simple, low-commitment way to stay connected and help shape the care we provide without needing to attend regular meetings.

Our questionnaires give you the option to share your contact details if you're happy for us to follow up on your feedback. This is completely voluntary, and we may not contact everyone but your views will always count, even if you choose not to provide your details.

You’ll also have the opportunity to answer a few optional demographic questions. These help us ensure that our services are fair, inclusive, and accessible to all. By understanding which groups may be facing challenges, we can take steps to improve equity in the care we provide.

Your responses are confidential and used solely to support service improvement. It’s a big help if you choose to answer some or all of these questions, but you can always select ‘prefer not to say’ if there’s anything you’d rather skip.
